Congratulations boys on a well played season and a division title!  There was simply no team that could match our consistent strength through the season.  We won the Division 3 championship in style with a very respectable 15-2-1 record.  As usual we had our share of mid–season attendance woes but managed to maintain our first place status throughout the season.
Now we are starting a new playoff run against some exceptional opponents. Our team has truly evolved and matured over the past year and now will be tested against the powerhouse teams of the first and second divisions.  Last year we surprised even ourselves with our post-season play and this year should not be different.  We are stronger and more experienced.  Some of the teams we will encounter in the playoffs will be better than any we have yet played.  I am positive that on our good day we have the potential to match up against any team in the league.  Let give it our best!

Friday, Sept 6
Procaps : C.A.E

Goals: Gregor, Russell

Sunday, Aug 24
Procaps : Future II
     6             2
Goals: Othmane 2x, Gregor 2x, Romain, Vojkan

Chalk up another win for Procaps.  Our team played a well-tempered game against Future on Sunday.  Future played a good first half and managed to strike first very early in the game catching us flat footed.  We showed poise and patience and got to work evening the score when Stephen was body checked inside their 18 yard box.  The ensuing penalty kick was scored by Romain.   We dominated the play from then on scoring a series of goals including a nice header from Othmane and a break-away goal by Gregor.  Future showed a glimpse of life in the second half as one of their forwards threaded the needle between our defense and managed to poke one by Olivier.  Our goals were scored by Romain, Gregor(2), Othmane(2) and Vojkan.  On the positive we didn’t get involved in anything besides winning a soccer game on the field against a chippy Future squad.  One negative point is that we are still taking too many off-sides and should try to get these down before the playoffs.  I realize that a lot of the calls are a questionable but let’s be more aware of our positioning and adjust our game accordingly.  Daniel will be returning to Germany this Friday and unfortunately will not be with us for the rest of the season.  We wish him the best.

Saturday, Aug 23
Procaps : WYETH
     7             1
Goals: Stefan, Othmane, Jason, Romain(2), Eugene, Stephen

We coasted to an easy victory on Saturday giving the struggling Wyeth club more than they could handle.  Stefan opened the scoring with his annual goal on a free kick which fooled the keeper.  Othmane followed with another midway through the half which proved to be the game winner.  They were still fighting throughout the half and managed to respond with a single marker.  Jason closed the half with a breakaway goal.  The second half was all Procaps with ball possession clearly in our favor.  Romain scored a pair including a textbook penalty shot.  Stephen added insult to injury by nutmegging the keeper.  I picked up a gravy goal late in the game going one on one with the keeper.  Unfortunately, Russell will miss the next game with a pulled back that he sustained in the first half.  Hats off to Olivier for a good game between the pipes.  He made an excellent save midway through the second half on a quality scoring chance from inside box. (silencing his critics!)  It was another well played game that really wore down the Wyeth squad.  Our passing really seems to be improving and was very effective for working the ball up the wings. Let’s do it again tomorrow!

Sunday, Aug 10
Procaps : Ericsson 1
     2             6
Goals: Gregor 2x

Our team was beaten cleanly last Sunday against Ericsson 1.  Without an experienced goalie we were not able to keep the ball out of our net.  After dominating the midfield throughout the first half, Ericsson had the lead by three goals to nil.  At the beginning of the second half we came out strong and Gregor managed to score a pair of goals early.  Spirits were high and it appeared we had the momentum.  Then, Ericsson was able to put couple more in on us and the game was out of reach.  Throughout the game Ericsson was able to score on almost every shot that they took including two penalty shots.  I take responsibility for not pulling Osei out of the net sooner.  Next game against Wyeth I will start as keeper and I reserve the right to select a player to help me share the workload.  Offensively we controlled the play in the midfield but desperately waited for someone besides Gregor to generate shots.  Two goals is not really indicative of the number of chances we had and the time we spent controlling the play in their end.  We are still leading the division and there is no reason that should change.  Let's get some redemption against Wyeth.

Sunday, July 27
Procaps : Matrox
     7             0
Goals: Gregor 3x, Russell 2x, Michal 2x

Great game everybody.  We dominated Matrox in every position.  I will not describe the game here, I have only two things to comment on:
Substitution – I noticed that some people randomly decide to sub as they feel.  This cannot happen if we want to remain organized.  Eugene and I want to prevent these situations, which is why it is noted in the “Teams rules”.  If you want to sub another player, you have to know exactly whom you are subbing and the player has to get off the field first.
During regular season each player will spend an equal amount of time on the field.  Which means that even such stars like Gregor or myself have to sub.  Different situation will occur during the play offs where we have to react accordingly and in an organized fashion.

I would like to also remind everybody that we play because we want to and because we like soccer.  There is no point of getting upset for silly reasons.  I would like to see more support from some players.  Especially when a pass is missed or when someone does something they hadn’t intended to do.  We need to support each other even in plays that don’t end in a goal.  We should take an example from Stephen and Eugene who stand up for everybody. ~Michal~

Sunday, July 20
Procaps : SITA
     3             0
Goals: Romain, Othmane, Stephen

Good game guys.  Our team came out of the gates really strong against SITA on Sunday.  The first 15 minutes were played entirely in their end with two or three quality scoring chances.  Frankly, SITA appeared shell-shocked.  It looked as if we would be able to crush them early but they seemed to gain renewed confidence after surviving our initial barrage without being scored on.  It took one run into our zone and a near miss against us to fully revive SITA's confidence and a game was on.  Romain put in a penalty kick that opened the scoring but SITA did not give up.  Midway through the second half Stephen placed an excellent shot low against the SITA keeper.  Othmane poked one home to seal the victory late in the game.  Our team generated many excellent scoring opportunities and showed marked improvement over earlier matches.  Defensively, Procaps played another stellar game, preserving the league leading 4-goals-against.  Credit must be bestowed on our team of John and Stefan whose close teamwork serves to consistently anchor our rear.  Special mention to Othmane for a sharp game in front, definitely a contributor to an impressive offensive show of force.  Chalk up another "W".  Let's keep up the good work!

Sunday, July 8
Procaps : Bendix
     4             0
Goals: Daniel, Eugene, Russell, Bruno

Nice work out there boys.  Procaps dominated Bendix from the beginning.  We were able to out-hustle our older Bendix opponents to almost every loose ball out there.  They made us pay with a few late tackles and the occasional elbow but we never lost our composure.  As usual our defense was tight.  By the end of the match our confidence was visibly up and we were really playing a good passing game.  Excellent give and goes down both sides of the field.  Hopefully we can carry over some of that confidence into some of the bigger games down the road.  Goals were scored by Daniel Sinnig (brilliant), Eugene, Russell and Bruno.  Honourable mentions to Nizar who played a good running game down the wing with some solid crosses and Bruno who proved he could play a good field position and got to sweat for a change.

P.S.   So far I know Nizar and Mike cannot make it and if there are any others please let me know as soon as possible.

Sunday, July 8
Procaps : Paprican
     2             0
Goals: Olivier, Stephen

We played a steady and controlled game on Tuesday.  The Paprican team had alot of older guys so we gave them some respect and beat them cleanly, without trampling them.  Olivier opened the scoring with the goal that eventually proved to be the game winner on one of several runs up the wing.  He managed to pass the last defender then the keeper and neatly tuck it in.  Stephen added an insurance marker late with a long ball that fooled the keeper.  Overall we played a good match with honourable mentions going to Stefan who showed some good poise in Defence and Stephen who was a solid prescence in the midfield.  It is these types of games that we just have to keep on generating W's with.  Our next game is Tuesday against Bendix who we have always beaten but never without a few bumps and bruises.  Bring your shin pads. See you there.

Sunday, June 29
Procaps : C.A.E.
     1             1
Goals: Nabil

The outcome of Sunday's match was a 1-1 draw against CAE.  We controlled the play throughout most of the game but had a very difficult time scoring.  Nabil got us up to an early lead by slipping one past the CAE goaltender early in the first half.  From then on we were unable to get anything into the back of their net.  With chance after chance either missing the net or being saved CAE's confidence began to rise.  Midway through the second half they managed to get one by us on a running play that crisscrossed right through our penalty area.  At this point our team seemed to come back to life to really press hard.  Their club barely held us off in the last 20 minutes.  The CAE goalie deserves a lot of credit for playing an excellent game, including a brilliant penalty shot save.  Hats off to a hard working CAE club that managed to limit us to a single marker for 90 minutes.

Procaps : Future II
     2             0
Goals: Aris 2x

We pulled off another victory last Sunday against Future II.  We went to work displaying excellent control of the game, especially in the midfield.  Procaps exercised a patient game from the beginning and got an opening goal after Aris’s perfect shot from 18 meters in the early minutes.  We had some chances after that and Aris was practicing his shots for second goal which came midway through the second half from exactly the same distance as the first one. They stacked up a good defensive core against us (anchored by Dimitri from Belarus) and concentrated their manpower on shutting down our offense deep in their half.  Our ball control through the midfield was dominant but somehow they would mob the ball at the top of or inside their 18 yard box.  They really managed to foil many of our scoring chances throughout the match and it was good to see our guys going back at them again and again.  Overall they played a solid defensive game with a couple of fast and creative forwards that managed a few, very dangerous, running attacks but we deserved the victory.  Nabil saved the day by making a diving save midway through the second half.  Honourable mentions go to Gregor for his usual performance in the midfield and Nabil for helping out the team by playing goalie for a day.

Sunday, June 15
Procaps : Wyeth
     3             1
Goals: Gregor, Russell, Richard

Well deserved victory on Sunday guys; we displaying hard work and patience.  Everyone came out to play hard and it showed.  Our half-backs and forwards controlled the play in their end quite very well with some good passing plays up both of the wings.  Wyeth was limited offensively for the most part although they were quick to jump on a few failed clearing attempts we made in the rear.   I don’t recall their high scorer Banville (9) having a shot on net the whole game.  Wyeth did manage to score a goal early in the game but we bounced back with a nice one from Gregor.  Russell and Richard Mudzingwa popped in one each in the second half to seal the victory.  There was some excellent two-way play by Gregor and Aris who owned the central midfield.  Romain had a solid performance in the defense, stripping the ball from their attackers time after time.  Overall, every single player contributed to the victory.  Thanks to Richard Mudzingwa who joined us on short notice and was a welcome addition.  Let’s keep up the good work guys.

Thursday, June 12
Procaps : Ericsson I
     0             1

Yesterday’s game was a wake-up call.  We will have to play a full 90 minutes out there if we are going to keep our position in the standings.  Ericsson came out strong and proved they were hungry for a win.  In the first half they were really outplaying and out-muscling us to the ball.  Playing without a bench was definitely a disadvantage for our side.  In the last 20 minutes of the game we really seemed to come to life and even dominated but some good goaltending by Ericsson’s oversized goalie kept them ahead.  All of our players seemed to raise their intensity levels and if we can do this earlier next game we will be a force to be reckoned with.

Wednesday, June 4
Procaps : Infotech
     1             0
goals: Gregor

What a battle out there guys.  We finally faced a team that was a worthy opponent and we triumphed.  I think that collectively we played with enough intensity to really shut down Infotech’s offensive game.  At the same time we created a lot of chances that we just couldn’t capitalize on.  Gregor scored early in the first half and it proved to be the game winner.  Bruno came through with some excellent communication in the back, always making his presence known, and made a key save or two in the back when they counted.  We managed to keep our heads on and not get involved in too many scuffles after the play even when the pressure was on down the stretch.  As some players were mentioning, a second goal would have surely opened up the game.  Offsides were way down too.  That was a well deserved victory, let’s keep it up!

Thursday, May 29
Procaps : Matrox
     3             0
goals: Romain, Othmane, Gregor

Well played game guys.  Matrox came out strong on Thursday and had some excellent goaltending but eventually Romain opened the scoring 10 minutes into the second half.  Additional scoring came from Othmane and Gregor.  The best chance for Matrox came late in the second half when we failed to clear a free kick.  The off-side trap proved to be very effective against our team although some were definitely questionable calls.  We received between 5 and 10 offsides and I think we can get these calls down in future games.  Overall, the bad field conditions made the game a bit sloppy and our forwards and midfielders had a hard time carrying the ball past the Matrox defence.  This really hurt our game as we have a lot of good ball carriers.  It will be good for us to get back to Lachine.

Sunday, May 18
Procaps : SITA - Equant
     2             0
goals: Nabil, Russell

Procaps remained undefeated last Sunday with a 2-0 victory over SITA-Equant.  Unfortunately only 9 players attended the match for our side making the game a bit of a challenge.  In spite of being down a couple of guys we still played a very solid game and probably would have buried them with a full squad.  The SITA team had only a few chances against us, including a shot that sailed over the crossbar from 3 feet in front of our open net.  Our goals came from Russell and Nabil and Bruno recorded the shutout.

Sunday, May 11
Procaps : Bendix
     5             1
goals: Gregor, Stephen 2x, Nizar, Pavel

The game Sunday against a slow Bendix squad was a good chance to get some practice.  We were allowed a chance to practice some good passing plays and positioning.  But what they lacked in skill or speed they sure made up for in excessive roughness.  I think all of us were bumped around to some degree but the 5-1 victory helped ease the pain.  Luckily no-one was seriously injured.  I think that the style of play Bendix was playing is really the exception to the rule and we will have much better games in the near future.

We did the right thing by letting the scoreboard do the talking for us.  Goals were scored by Gregor(2), Pavel, Nizar and Russel.  We outplayed them in every aspect of the game but unfortunately, late in the second half, we let up for just enough time for them to get a quick goal.  Everyone had a good game and there was some exceptional two-way playing by Stephen and Daniel.  Next game is at 3:00 this Sunday against SITA at St.Thomas High School in Pointe Claire.  See the field directions page for more info.
